Tunnel

An architectural structural study done in 2012, this piece was based on the challenge of creating a scaled-down self-supporting bridge that could span a distance of one foot and hold weight without the need for anchors or any suspension apparatus. The resulting piece was a spiraling tube punctuated on one of its sides by an array of circular openings meant to, if applied to a real-world design, illuminate its interior and cast shadows during the day and glow from within at night.
