item 09: synapsid

 

The ninth chapter in the ongoing A Virtual Memory audio-visual art project, this album, released in the winter of 2020, sought to reexamine the spirit of place that informed the original architectural thesis A Passage in Time while bridging it with the present. Artistically, this was accomplished by revisiting and photographically redocumenting that project’s site and surrounding geography while juxtaposing via collage those elements with fossils from the Permian era. This connection between New Mexico and the late Paleozoic was subsequently furthered musically.
